Ate Vickie's Arki Kiosk

I’m one hungry student off on an exciting mission to find the best places to eat in, in the university I love the most, UP.

Just like other students, I get tired of the regular fare and I crave for something different --- something new, pleasing to the taste buds and still within budget.

Today’s stop: Ate Vickie’s in Arki

What I love the most about Ate Vickie is her ability to transform the ordinary to something extra special and well-worth the detour (especially for the non-arki students).

Take for example siomai. Ate Vickie reinvented the ordinary pork dumpling by tucking in a quail egg in the center. Yes, it’s just a quail egg yet this makes all the difference. Top the siomai with toyo, calamansi and garlic chips and you’ve got a filling meal for only P30! I call this Siomai with a treasure! J

Ate Vickie also offers a variety of burgers and popular snacks such as shawarma, taco salad and crispy chicken skin

Crispy chicken Skin for P10 a pack, goes well with suka

And refreshments such as Pandan milk tea with black gulaman, a perfect thirst-quencher for P25 only.

I think what makes Ate Vickie’s Arki kiosk such a great eating place (besides the food) is the owner herself. Ate Vickie is very friendly and accommodating, easily making her a favourite among her customers. She’s also very open to suggestions on new food offerings. I remember being quite disappointed when Jollibee stopped serving the Crispy Chicken Burger. I told Ate Vickie about this (while eating my usual siomai with a treasure) and suggested that she served a similar burger.

And now, she has Crispy Chicken Burjer with TLC on her menu! (Of course, I’d like to believe that’s the burger that I told her about years ago.) Regardless of where she got the idea, I’m sure it’s a burger worth trying.

So the next time you’re hungry in UP, swing by Ate Vickie’s Arki kiosk and be sure to EatUP. With less than P100, you’ll be sure to have your fill!
